Description
A burlesque on William Kent's altarpiece at St Clement Dane's. A re-engraving of Hogarth's original plate. William Kent designed a new altarpiece for St Clement Danes in 1725, but the congregation rejected it because it was so poorly executed and because they thought they recognized the Pretender's wife and her son amongst the angels.
