"High Street, Whitechapel" : general view of Whitechapel High Street looking westward towards the spire of St. Botolph Aldgate.The vista is closed by the distant Monument with the steeple of St. Magnus Martyr to its left. A horse-drawn coach rides along the street, wagons and barrows on the road and pedestrians walking along the street. A barber's pole can be seen on the left hand side. Stepney is now in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
